Adam E. Socha, 82 of Lorain, died Wednesday, October 10, 2007 in Anchor Lodge Nursing Home. He was born December 24, 1924 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident. Following graduation from Lorain High School, he served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from BF Goodrich after 24 years of employment. He had also worked aboard numerous Great Lakes Frieghters and for Spang Bakery, and was an officer with the Lorain Police Department. He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and the PLAV Post 38, PACC, and UPC, all in Lorain. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his daughters, Donna M. Socha of Cincinnati and Sandra Vest of Davidson, NC; sons, Joseph Michael Socha of Bradenton, FL, John "Jay" Socha of Henrietta Twp., James Robert Socha of Suamico, WI and Jeffrey A. Socha of Avon; 10 Grandchildren; sister, Molly Kman of Broadview Hts; brothers, Eugene Socha of Amherst and Jerome Socha of Lorain. He was preceded-in-death by his wife in 2004, Joan (nee Przychocki) Socha, parents, Michael and Stefania (nee Wzolek) Socha and brothers, Edward, Daniel :Don: and Michael. Friends may call Friday October 12, 2007 from 3 - 8 P.M. at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Closing prayers will be said on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 9:00 am at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Chuck Henkle, OFM Conv. and Deacon Bob Dybo will be the celebrants. Interment with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the United States Navy Memorial,701 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 123, Washington, DC 20004-2608.
