Alice Mae Eucker

Alice Mae Eucker (nee Hardy), 91, formerly of Elyria and Birmingham, died Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Zanesville after a lengthy illness. Born April 18, 1919 in Elyria, she had been a Birmingham resident most of her life but had lived in California and Elyria. Alice had worked at Opperman's Cider Mill, was a clerk at the Ontario Store, and had worked at Safeway and the meat market at Fischer's Meat Market. During WWII, she worked at an airplane factory as a "Rosie the Riveter". She enjoyed traveling to Australia, Germany, Spain, Belgium France, Holland, Switzerland, Aruba and Hawaii. Survivors include son, William "Jerry" (Wilma) Eucker , Elyria; daughters, Diane (Gary) Hamilton of Zanesville and Marilyn Leadbetter of Lorain; grandchildren, Justine Streets, James Eucker, Wendy Dahlberg, Juanita Eucker, Melody Rockwell, Zachary Hamilton, Nathan Hamilton, Robert Keith Leadbetter, Jr. and Matthew Leadbetter; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson, 2 brothers, Harold Hardy of Henrietta and Leland Hardy of Grafton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Josephine Edna (nee Burke) Hardy; her husband, George William Eucker, 1996, brothers, Ellsworth and Edwin Hardy and great grandchild, Jason Everson. Friends may call Monday, October 11, 2010, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 1 pm at the funeral home. The Reverend Richard K. Krethmar, pastor of the Birmingham Methodist Church will officiate.
