Irene Alloway (nee Smith), 78 of Lorain, died peacefully Friday, January 23, 2009 in Lake Point Health Center, Lorain. She was born April 23, 1930 in Lorain where she has been a life long resident. Irene retired from the Lorain Schools in 1976 after 10 years of cafeteria work. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Lorain, where she had participated in the Altar and Rosary Society. She loved to play BINGO and enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Janet Ortiz of Jarvisburg, NC; sons and daughters in law, Larry and Nadine Alloway of Lorain, and Allen and Diane Alloway of Lorain; 10 grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Smith of Lorain and Norbert Smith of Chicago, IL; and sister, Rita Terschak and Jeannette Clotz both of Lorain. Preceding her in death were her husband Ronald Lee Alloway in 1994, parents, Chester and Josephine (nee Falkowski) Smith, son, Kenneth Alloway in 2007, brother, Chester Smith Jr.; and sister, Eleanor Bialorucki. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 26, 2009 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church 418 W. 15th St. Lorain. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain Memorial Contributions are suggested to the donors choice.
