Alvin J Staveski, 74, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a short illness. He was born December 23, 1941 in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 46 years moving from Henrietta Twp. Alvin graduated from Lorain High School in 1959 and worked for Crown Steel, Lorain detailing vans for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, the Vermilion Fish and Game, and the NRA. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, drag racing, and had enjoyed riding motorcycles when he was younger. He is survived by his companion of 8 years, Donna Vidrick of Vermilion; son, Jeff (Theresa) Staveski of Oberlin; daughter, Traci (Chuck) Stoll of Vermilion; grandchildren, Jordyn Stoll, Emily Staveski, and Logan Stoll; brother, Jim Staveski of Amherst; and sisters, Diane Staveski of Vermilion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin A. Staveski and Anna Marie (nee Novak) Lipka and sister Lavern Wojtko. The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Sat. Nov. 12, 2016 at 12:30 pm followed by a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH. Father Ron Brickner will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. The family suggests memorial contributions to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053.
