Amelia M. Sexstella

Amelia M. Sexstella (Ventrone), 87 passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side Saturday, August 8, 2009 in Kingston of Vermilion following a lengthy illness. Born August 28, 1921 in Lorain, Amelia moved to Akron, Ohio when she was a young girl where she attended Bryan Elementary School and was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and later worked at Akron General Tire during WWII in the pontoon department. She met her husband to be while visiting relatives in Lorain and moved back to Lorain in 1946 when she married her husband Walter. Amelia was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain. She worked at Spangs Bakery and retired from St. Joseph Hospital's dietary department in 1985 after 24 years of service. She loved to crochet afghans in her spare time and vacationing in Las Vegas. She looked forward to going to local casinos with her family so she could "drop a few coins". Amelia will be dearly missed by her daughters and son-in-laws, Mary Jane (Daniel) Hreha of Lorain and Diane (Edward) Stauser of Elyria; grandson, Daniel B. of Avon Lake; great-granddaughter, Avery Skye of Amherst; Amelia's two sisters, Virginia Ventrone and Lucy Pilleggi both of Akron, OH and her sister-in-laws Helen Sexstella and Joan Sexstella both of Lorain, Sandra Ventrone and Sandy Ventrone both of Akron; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband of 63 years Walter V. Sexstella who died May 19, 2009, parents, John and Fanny (nee DeMar) Ventrone, brothers: John, Dominic, Anthony, and Michael; sisters: Josephine Drake, Lena Kaufman, and Mary Lear; and two baby brothers. Friends may call Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from 4-8 pm at the Dombrowski Humphrey Riddle Funeral Home 1939 Oberlin Ave. Lorain, OH Closing prayers will be said at the funeral home on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 at 10 am followed by a 10:30 Mass of Christian Burial at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. Reverend Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will officiate with the participation of Decon Robert J. Dybo. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain . Amelia's family would like to thank the entire staff at Kingston of Vermilion for their love, kindness and devotion to our mother and family. Also thank you to New Life Hospice for their care and compassion toward Amelia and our family during her last days.
