Anita Jane Shipman (née Everts), 69, of Vermilion, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Mercy New Life Hospice following a lengthy illness.
She was born August 17, 1956, in Hagerstown, Maryland, and had been a resident of Vermilion for over 65 years after moving from Hancock, Maryland.
Anita was a dedicated and hardworking woman who consistently gave 110 percent in everything she did. Her strong work ethic was evident throughout her career in warehouse logistics, where she was known for her reliability and commitment.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Birmingham. Anita enjoyed spending time with family, playing games, sewing, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Her greatest joy came from seeing others happy and having fun.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Elwood “Woody” T. Shipman of Vermilion; her son, Jason (Theresa) Shipman of Vermilion; her sister, Julie (Thomas) Frederick of Vermilion; her brother, Vernon (Jennifer) Everts of Wakeman; her brother-in-law, Jim Parsons of Wakeman, her grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, and Ashley Shipman of Vermilion; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cam and Frances (née Younker) Everts, and her sister, Karen Parsons.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 5918 OH-60, Birmingham, OH 44889. The Reverend Gary Mills and Pastor Marvin Osborne will co-officiate. Interment will follow at Rugby Cemetery, Vermilion.
