Anna Hujar

October 9, 1913 — September 4, 2003

Anna "Cioce" Hujar, age 89, of Avon, formerly of Lorain, died Thursday, September 4, 2003 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home. She was born on October 9, 1913 in Lorain, Ohio and had been a lifelong resident. Mrs. Hujar was a homemaker, caterer and popular pie maker in Lorain. Baking pies had long been Anna's specialty. Anna also cared for her nieces and nephews as they were growing up as well as her great-nieces and nephews. She became a resident of Avon Oaks Nursing Facility in 1996 where she recieved loving care until her passing. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Lorain and its Altar & Rosary Society. Survivors include her nieces, Patti Michalski, Debbie Ganobcik and Diane Weber, all of Lorain; nephews, Dennis O'Keefe of Sheffield Lake and Michael O'Keefe of Wakeman; 12 great nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Joseph Hujar in 1966, parents, John and Antonina (nee Gutkowski) Latarski and 3 sisters. Friends may call on Sunday, September 7, 2003 from 4-8pm at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. The Holy Rosary will be recited by the Altar and Rosary Society at 5:00pm. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:30am on Monday, September 8, 2003 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. Reverend Robert J. Glepko, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Lorain.
