Arnold Paul Bigler

January 15, 1925 — April 14, 2008

Arnold Paul Bigler "Bee Man" , 83 of Vermilion , died Monday, April 14, 2008 in Community Health Partners, Lorain after a lengthy illness. He was born January 15, 1925 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and has been a Vermilion resident since 1989 moving from Elyria and Chillicothe, OH. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He witnessed the atomic testing at Bikini Atoll in 1946 during Operation Cross Roads. He worked for Napa Auto Parts in Elyria and Chillicothe as a salesman for 40 years, retiring in 1990. Arnold spent much of his free time working as a Bee Keeper. He was past president of Lorain Co. Bee Keepers, and is a member of the Sandusky River Valley Bee Keepers. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Survivors include his daughters, Mona (Edmond) Pelkey of Watertown, NY, and Jan ( Mike) Mussler of Nederland, CO; step daughters, Lois Ann Wynne of Sandusky and Heather (John) McDougal of Amherst; step sons, Shawn Weber of Elyria and Drew Weber of Vermilion; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Bernard Bigler of Olathe, Kansas; sister, Helen Kelley of Columbus, OH. Preceding him in death were his 1st wife, Luvella (nee Graves) Bigler in 1988, 2nd wife Elinor (nee Dodge) Bigler in 2003; parents, Joseph Frank and Helen (nee Schumacher) Bigler; brothers, Zeb and Vic Bigler; and sisters, Theresa Hirsch and Stella Streitenberger. There will be a celebration of Arnold's life on June 8, 2008 at 1:00 at 922 Howard Drive, Vermilion, OH 44089.
