Arnold Eugene Johnston

Arnold Eugene Johnston, 87, of Vermilion, died Saturday, September 17, 2022 at his home after a brief illness.

He was born May 4, 1935 in Elderton, PA and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 58 years moving from West Lebanon, PA.

Arnold worked for Ford Motor Co. as an Inspector for 30 years retiring in 1994.

He was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Elyria Moose Lodge. He enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, classic cars, model trains, wood crafts, bowling, Nascar, and Cleveland Sports. He loved decorating for Christmas and having the family together for Christmas celebrations.

He is survived by his sons, Rodney (Catherine) Johnston of Vermilion; Michael Johnston of Vermilion; Richard (Jennie) Johnston of KY; Robert (Lori) Johnston of Vermilion; daughters, Kimberly (Don) Reed of GA; Carolyn (James) Showalter of Wakeman; and Linda (David) Missig of Vermilion; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sisters, Eileen (Don) McCausland of Elderton, PA; Audrey (Bob) Houston of Shelocta, PA; and Valjean Ferrier of Elderton, PA.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ruby JoAnn Johnston; parents, Eugene and Beulah (nee Clark) Johnston; and sister, Beatrice Johnston.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12 noon at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend David Baynes will officiate. Services will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/riddlefh. Interment will follow at Rugby Cemetery, Vermilion.
