Arthur J. Ford

Arthur J. Ford, 91, of Vermilion, died Friday, October 24, 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was born February 7, 1923 in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 60 years. He graduated from Lorain High School Class of 1941 A, the Ohio State University, and was a veteran of the US Navy. He served overseas during WWII in the European Theater, China Burma IndiaTheater, and Pacific Theater. Arthur was self employed as an auto dealer at Al Fords Sales, Lorain from 1945 to 1985. He was a member of the United Church of Christ Church, Vermilion, past president of the Lorain Co. Auto Dealers Association, Past Commodore of the Lorain Yacht Club, Past Chief of the Red Barons, member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, Vermilion Boat Club, Beaver Creek Hunt Club, and Vermilion Amvets Post #22. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Roland "Butch" Taylor of Stow; grandsons, John and Robert Taylor; and son-in-law, Paul Stanic. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Ruth 'Hutch" Ford; daughter, Linda Lee Stanic; parents, Albert and Mary (nee Rosch) Ford; and brothers, Albert and Don Ford. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014 from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. The Reverend Bob Richardson will officiate. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
