Arthur "Art" Kelm, age 83, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at Grace Hospital in Amherst. He was born on February 14, 1921 in Lorain and has been a Vermilion resident most of his life. He worked as a bull dozer operator for the Ohio Engineers Union working for many local construction companies. He enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eleanor (nee Koty); a daughter, Mary Laffery of Vermilion; 2 sons, David Kelm and Arthur J. Kelm, both of Vermilion; 7 grandchildren; a brother, Ozzie Kelm of Vermilion; and sister, Marge Waldron of Wakeman. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Alvina (nee Miller) Kelm, 2 brothers, Herbie and Awalt Kelm and a sister, Erma Milliser. The family will receive friends on Friday October 8, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home on Saturday, October 9, 2004, at 2 pm with the Reverend Wendell Brooker, pastor of the United Church of Christ Congregational, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
