He was born on June 23, 1941, in Albany, KY, and had made his home in Greenville for the past 18 years after moving from Southington, OH.
David was a proud graduate of Purdue University and went on to earn his Master’s degree from Baldwin Wallace University. After receiving his B.S.M.E. and M.B.A. degrees, David began his career with the Pfaudler Company, where he had complete engineering responsibility for thermal and mechanical design of their glass and alloy heat exchangers. After the Metaullics Heat Exchanger Division (then owned by BP America) was merged with Pfaudler, David took on additional responsibility for the design and sizing of graphite and ceramic heat exchangers.
In 1987, David joined the Metaullics Systems Company as Engineering Manager for the Heat Exchanger Group. In that position, he was instrumental in the design of the award winning Hexoloy® ceramic heat exchanger, and improvement of the Impervite® graphite product line.
In 2010, he joined the CG Thermal start up company, providing complete engineering design for the new company. In total, David has a life time career of 50 years experience in mechanical design and thermal sizing of corrosion resistant heat exchangers for the chemical processing industry. David was a principal and charter member of CG Thermal LLC.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, David was a member of the Arbor Day Foundation and had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, farming and raising animals, and on occasion, bowling and golfing. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Darren Hudson of Niles, OH, and Kendall “Ken” (Amanda) Hudson of Greenville, NC; and his beloved grandchildren, Katelynn, Kennedy, and Kensey.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Hudson (2004); his parents, Bennie and Monte (Barnett) Hudson; his stepmother, Clena Hudson; and his infant brother.
