Barbara J. Knitter

Barbara J. Knitter (nee Rangel), 78, of Lorain, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Barbara was born December 4, 1939 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident. She took great care of her home over the years and enjoyed raising their children with her husband. She was a member of St. Mary Church in Lorain. She enjoyed volunteering at the church, sewing, gardening, going out to dinner with her friends, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Mindy (Jim) Kupcik of Medina; sons, Tom (Danee) Knitter of Medina, Dave Knitter of Elyria, and Steve Knitter of Lorain; grandchildren, TJ, Adam (Kelsey), Devyn, Ryan and Jenna; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Louise; sisters, Kathy (George) Gonas and Marci (Don) Ksiazk; brother, Randy (Loretta) Rangel; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter "Tom" Knitter; parents, Jesse and Katherine (nee Wagner) Rangel; brother, Jesse Rangel; and sister, Cyndee Pena. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Closing prayers will be Friday, June 15, 2018 at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, 310 W. 8th Street, Lorain. Father Daniel O. Divis will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
