Barbara Ann Walker

Barbara Ann Walker (nee Kaminski ), 75, of Vermilion, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a 7 month illness. Barbara was born August 20, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 12 years, moving from Lorain. She graduated from Baldwin Wallace University and became a Learning Disability Tutor for Oberlin and Clearview Schools before she became a dedicated teacher for Lorain City Schools. She taught 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade for 27 years, retiring in 2009. Barbara was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion and a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Lorain. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, bird watching, yard work, flower gardens, journal writing, vacationing with her family, and she was a life long learner. Barbara was always thinking and praying for others. She left a legacy of love with her daughter, Stephanie (David) Schaefer of Vermilion; granddaughters, Alexandra and Ashley Schaefer; great grandchildren, Aydin and Jaxson, and her sister, Mary Jane Smith of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Mary (nee Krett) Kaminski, and her brothers, Danny, Vincent and Leo Kaminski. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 1, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange St., Vermilion. Father Ron Brickner will officiate. Interment will follow.
