Bernadine "Bernie" H. Katanik (nee Collisi ), 90, of Parma, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Holy Family Home, Parma, after a short illness. She was born August 3, 1924 in Cleveland, and grew up in Parma. She moved to Vermilion from Parma in 1972 where she resided until moving back to Parma in 2009. Bernie had been a very active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion where she was active in the Altar Rosary Society and sang in the funeral choir. She was also a member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Parma. Bernie enjoyed sewing and fishing with the love of her life Al. Loving mother of Cheryl (Clifford/deceased) Hirsch of Ocala, FL, Dianne (Michael) Cavanaugh of North Ridgeville, Elyse Kirchner of Parma, Farrel A. Katanik of Bryant, Wisconsin, Gary (Heidi) Katanik of Wickliffe, Hal (Debbi) Katanik of Lakeline, cherished grandmother of 15, great grandmother of 16; sister, Ida Chodyna of Parma; sister-in-law, Dorothy Collisi; and aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert "Al" Katanik in 2008; parents, Clarence and Virginia (nee Fenstermaker) Collisi; great grandson, Zachary Virgin; brother, John Collisi; and sisters, Marie Terese Collisi, Regina Scurlock, Dorothy Roth, Mary Ann Cizmadia, and Marion Hayden. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 2, 2015 from 2-8 pm at the Golubski Funeral Home, 5986 Ridge Rd., Parma, OH 44129. Family and friends will meet at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 6750 State Rd., Parma, OH 44134 on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 11:00 am for a Mass of Christian Burial.
