Helen "Bertha" Katrinchak, (Grandma Saluga) 92, of Vermilion, died Friday, May 28, 2004 at the home of her granddaughter after a short illness. She was born in Braddock, PA. She grew up in Hungary , lived in Messmore, PA and has been a Vermilion resident since 1981. She worked for Berkowitz Shirt Factory as a presser for 21 years in Uniontown, PA. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion and a former member of St. Mary Greek Catholic Church in New Salem, PA. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and caring for her family. She is survived by her son, Alex Katrinchak of Elyria; 6 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex, on Sept 12, 1988; daughter, Mary Jane Saluga in 2001; 2 brothers, Steve Hreno and John Hreno; 2 sisters, Elizabeth and Veronica, and her parents, George and Lizzie (nee Gis) Fekete. The family will receive friends Monday, May 31, 2004 from 4-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 4 p.m. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2004. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion at 10 a.m. Father Jim Homer, pastor, will officiate.. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
