Betty A. Lowder-Gandee (nee Freeman), 73, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at her home after a short illness. She was born October 30, 1938 in Kayford, WV and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 51 years moving from southern OhioBetty worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain as an assembler and in the maintenance department. She also worked as a school bus driver for Vermilion Schools and had worked at Lawsons, Vermilion. She was a member of the Church of God Prophecy, Vermilion and enjoyed singing, country western music, dancing, and loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Robert Gandee of Vermilion; daughters: Brenda (Jeff Eastman) Lowder of Norwalk, Pam (Doug) Cashell of Vermilion, Donna VanDusen of Vermilion, Dennisa (William) Strader of Vermilion, Sherri Gandee of Vermilion, and Shelley (Abe) Lesczynski of Hobart, IN; sons, Danny Lowder and David Lowder both of Vermilion; 24 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Nancy Pistole, Portsmoth, OH; brothers, Joe Freeman, Ironton, OH and Berman Freeman, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Barbara (nee Gerald) Freeman; son, Robin Gandee, sisters, Bobbie Sue Dever, Shirley Potter, Carmela Freeman; and brother, David Freeman. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11 am at the Riddle Funeral Home. The Bishop Joseph Newberry, pastor of Church of God Prophecy, will officiate.
