Betty Jo Adkins

Betty Jo Adkins (nee Maynard), 80, of Vermilion, died Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Mill Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

She was born February 25, 1943 in Harts, WV and had been a Vermilion area resident for the past 64 years.

Betty worked as a hairdresser for Beauty Dock and Life Care Assisted Living, retiring after 50 years.

She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie Holbrook of Vermilion; grandchildren, James, Amanda, Ashley and Corey, Leigh and Jose, Phillip and Rachel, and Sam; great-grandchildren, Andon, Juan, Vincent, Violet, Chelsea, and Jesse; sisters, Daisy Brumfield of NC and Kay (Dan) Hershberger of Vermilion; and nieces and nephews, Terry and Kim, David, Tracie and Ryan, Elizabeth, Nora, Kayla, and Carter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James T. Adkins; parents, Joe and Peggy (nee Miller) Maynard; daughter, Robin Adkins Smith; son, Joe Adkins; son-in-law, Marvin; niece, Andrea; and brother-in-law, Herbie.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 3, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 Noon at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.  Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
