Betty Maxine Bateson (nee Reed), 88, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Kingston of Vermilion. Betty was born March 19, 1929 in Oakfield, Ohio, where she lived until moving to Vermilion in 2006. She worked at Bryant Manufacturing in New Lexington, Ohio for 33 years retiring in 1986. She was a member of Oakfield Baptist Church, She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading her Bible. She loved to play games, spend time with her family and watch TV. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Truman) Ellis, Vermilion; grandsons, Kevin Chorniak Des Moines, Iowa, and Michael Ellis (Megan) Vermilion; great grandson, Karsen Ellis, and Mason Ellis, Birmingham; sisters, Yvonne Jeffers (Jack) Chelsea, MI, Joan Bateson, New Lexington, Ohio and Kay Newman (Tom), Newark, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Minnie (Beatrice) (nee Cavinee) Reed and a sister Pauline Jones. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from noon until the time of a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Monica Besida of the 1st Assembly of God Church, Vermilion will officiate. Burial will follow at Rugby Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.riddlefuneralhome.com.
