Betty M. Childress

Betty M. Childress (nee Smith), 80, of Vermilion, died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at her home after a lengthy illness. Born December 20, 1929 in KY, she had been a Vermilion resident for the past 39 years moving from Lorain. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Birmingham. Betty enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, cooking, and traveling to Texas in their RV during the winter. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Cecil Childress; sons, Samuel (Malinda) Childress of Vermilion, Frank (Norma) Childress of Surry Virginia, Timothy (Michelle) Childress of Louisville, KY, and James (Ginger) Childress of Pleasant Valley, Iowa; daughter, Carol (Jon) Lamprecht of Geneva, OH; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Marie (nee Bowling) Smith; brother, Jerry Smith; and a sister, Mary Sue Kushner. Friends may call Monday, November 1, 2010 from 6-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Friends may also call Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 12 Noon until the time of funeral services at 2 pm. The Rev. Dale Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
