Beulah Samons

Beulah Samons (nee Smiley), 94, of Vermilion, went home to be with Lord Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

She was born December 15, 1928 in Dana , KY and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 61 years moving from Kentucky.

Beulah  worked for Lorain Electronics for 20 years, retiring in 1977.

She was a member of Little Edna Old Regular Baptist Church.  She enjoyed homemaking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to Florida. She was strong in her faith and loved worshiping at her church and her son's church, North Lake Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy (the late Virgil "Bud") Lafferty of Wakeman, Janet (Ed) Young of Berlin Hts, Jill (Terry) Haston of Vermilion, and Norma (Ron) Emery of Vermilion; son, Jayson (Sharon) Samons of Norwalk; grandchildren: Jay, Shelly, Tammy, Derek, Angela, Terry Jr., Jennifer, Jeffrey, and Missy; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and her sisters, Cornella (the late WB) Smiley Conn of Dana, KY and Louanna (the late Bascom) Smiley Conn of Wakeman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Jay Samons in 2022; parents, Miller and Mary Edna (nee Hall) Smiley; brothers, Ermon Smiley, Donald Smiley and Floyd Smiley; sisters, Lillian Smiley Akers, Sula Smiley, Survelva Smiley and Eula Smiley Conn; and her  grandson, Wayde Lafferty,

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 5, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 323 N. Lake Street, South Amherst, OH 44001.  Elders Larry Newsome, Dennis Elkins, and Steve Slone will officiate. Services will be live streamed at https://www.northlakemissionarybaptist.com. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
