Beverly June Schon

Beverly June Schon (nee Kline), 85, of Lorain, passed away the evening of Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Wesleyan Village after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born November 1, 1927 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain, to parents George W. and Hazel (nee Faragher) Kline. Bev graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1945 B. After graduation she worked as a secretary at the former NACA (NASA Lewis Research Center) in Cleveland, until marrying her husband John J. "Jack" Schon in 1948. Bev was a lifelong member of the Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church (Lorain Lighthouse UMC) where she was active in the Women's Society and sang in the choir. She was an extremely loving and caring wife and mother. At the age of 52 she went back to work as a secretary at the MIS firm and later as the office manager for the Nord Family Foundation and Leadership Lorain County. Bev was also an accomplished seamstress and knitter, skilled at needle work and embroidery. She was an amazing flower gardener and a fabulous baker known for her delicious pies and sugar cookies. She had a devotion for choral music and musical theater and was a life long dog lover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Karl and her husband of 60 years, Jack, in 2008. Survivors include, children Cathy (Jack) Clark of Lorain, Betsy (Ted) Williams of Lorain; Bill ( Carrie Lopez) Schon of Lorain; and grandchildren: Molly (Fiancé' Jeff Domanski) Clark, Katy (Erik) Miller, Adam (Thom Warren) Williams, Jay and Jamie Schon and great grandchildren Annika and Elin Miller, along with several nieces and nephews. Bev's family would like to thank the staff of Beacon House and the 3rd floor Health Care at Wesleyan Village for the wonderful and supportive care that they provided her for the last 4 years. Private family services will be held under the direction of the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lorain County Metro Parks (Lakeview Park Rose Garden), 12882 Diagonal Rd., LaGrange, OH 44050.
