Billie Jean Bennett (nee Ayers), 78, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at her home after a lengthy illness. Billie Jean was born October 23, 1932 in Toone, TN. She had been a Vermilion resident for the past 53 years. She loved her grandchildren, reading, watching TV and visiting Memphis, TN. She is survived by daughters, Debra (Andy) Jennings and Rhonda (Wayne) Davis of Vermilion; son, Robert (Twania) Bennett of Walnut, MS, 5 grandchildren, Casandra, Shelby, Donny, Joshua, and Laura; 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson; 1 great-great granddaughter; sisters, Shirley Bonds of Sevierville, TN and Clara Ruth Clark of San Antonio, TX and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.J. Bennett Jan. 13, 2010 and her parents, Warren and Effie (nee Breeden) Ayers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 25, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. The Reverend Jim Cooper will officiate.
