Bobby Gene Stidham Sr., 81, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Bob was born March 8, 1931 in Wise Co. , VA and spent his childhood in Jenkins, KY. He had been a Vermilion resident for the past 49 years moving from Huron. He was a veteran of the US Army stationed in Ft. Benning, GA from 1954-1956. Bob worked at Ford Motor Co., Lorain in the maintenance department as a repairman for 38 years, retiring in 1997. He had been a member of Haymond Freewill Baptist Church, Pottersfork, KY, UAW # 425, and American Legion Post # 397. He enjoyed playing cards, going to casinos, and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed working on cars as a "backyard mechanic" and sitting under the shade tree. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Larry Marcum of Amherst; grandchildren: Georgia Sue Marcum, Larry Gene Marcum Jr., Elisha Nichole Stidham, and Rachel Leigh Stidham, , 9 great grandchildren; brother, Ted Stidham of Huron, and sisters, Faye Powell of Walbash, IN, and Linda Rains and Kaye Brown both of Pottersfork, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Britton and Callie (nee Collins) Stidham; son, Bobby "Rob" G. Stidham, granddaughter, Jennifer Lindsey Stidham, brothers, Robert, Homer, and Daniel Stidham; and former wife Sue Stidham (Currier). The family will receive friends on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 11 am at the Riddle Funeral Home. The Reverend Farrell Keith will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemtery, where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
