Bonnie Marie Crate (née Bolyard), 83, formerly of Vermilion, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Keystone Pointe Health and Rehab following a lengthy illness.
Born on October 29, 1941, in Preston County, West Virginia, Bonnie had been a resident of Elyria and LaGrange for the past 10 years, having previously lived in Vermilion for 47 years.
Bonnie had been a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Vermilion and active in numerous organizations, including the VFW Post #7576 and AMVETS Post #22 Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, and the Women’s Bowling League of Vermilion. She also volunteered at Lorain Community Hospital, generously giving her time to help others.
In her free time, Bonnie enjoyed quilting and crafting, playing tennis and bowling, and spending sunny days at the pool.
She is survived by her children, Bradley (Shirley) Titchenell of North Ridgeville, OH, David (Angela) Crate of Junction City, OH, Cindy Marie (Kevin) Blake of Kalida, OH, and Diane (Steve) Cooper of South Shore, KY. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and her sister, Betty Funk of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Titchenell, second husband of 35 years, Charles Walter Crate; her parents, Gilbert and Dolly (née Cathell) Bolyard; and her brother, Paul Bolyard.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 Noon at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
