Bonnie Jean Kudela (nee Cox), 79, of Vermilion, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a lengthy illness. She was born August 12, 1933 in Indianapolis, IN, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 60 years. Bonnie owned and operated the Encore Shoppe, Vermilion for 44 years, retiring in 2006. She was a member of St.Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion where she enjoyed watching he students in the park, singing in the choir and helping clean the church. She had also been a member of the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce, Business and Professional Women where she served 2 terms as president, and AMVETS Post #22 Auxiliary. She enjoyed flowers and bowling. She is survived by her sons, Michael Kudela of Vermilion and Daniel Kudela of Elk Mound, Wisconsin; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and brother, Cliff Cox, of Simi Valley, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Kudela in 2008; and parents Bryce and Catherine (nee Newsome) Cox. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 10:00 am until the time of a prayer service at 11:30 am at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12 Noon at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange St., Vermilion, OH. Father Ronald Brickner will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association - Ohio Valley Affiliate, PO Box 634445, Cincinnati, OH 45263-4445 .
