Burton Bickel

Burton Bickel, 93 of Vermilion, died Saturday, November 8, 2003 in Community Health Partners West, Lorain. He was born April 6, 1910 in Lorain, OH and had been a resident of Lorain and Amherst until he moved to Howey-In-The-Hills, FL in 1976. He has been a Vermilion resident since 1996. Mr. Bickel was a Sheet Metal worker for Local Union #33 in Vermilion and retired in 1972. He graduated from Lorain High School in the 1928 B class and had attended Ohio University and Case Western Reserve University. He was a member of Local union # 33 in Vermilion, enjoyed building model ships, following the stock market, and sailing, especially sailing through the Bahamas. Survivors include one Son, Burton Bickel of Gibraltar, MI 2 Daughters, Sharon Bardus of Columbus, OH and Mary Jane Burger of Vermilion, OH , 7 Grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his wife, Donna Mae Bickel (nee Burke) in 1996, and parents, Charles and Myrtle (nee Hale) Bickel. A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Christ Congregational, Tuesday Nov. 11, 2003 at 4:00 PM. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain. Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St. Vermilion, is handling the arrangements.
