Cameron Nicholas Diehl, 14, of Vermilion, died Saturday, July 29, 2023 at his family's cabin in PA after a UTV accident.
He was born February 7, 2009 in Lorain, OH and had been a lifelong Vermilion resident.
Cameron had just finished 8th grade at St. Joseph School, Amherst, and had previously attended St. Mary School, Vermilion. Cameron was looking forward to attending Elyria Catholic.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish, Vermilion where he served as an Altar Boy. He had earned the rank of Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop #447 and was working towards Eagle Scout. Cameron enjoyed fishing, swimming, going to Cedar Point, and being in the outdoors. He loved playing baseball in Vermilion and Amherst and golfing, getting his first hole in one three weeks ago.
He is survived by his mother, Dawn Marie Diehl of Lorain; grandmother, Victoria "Vickki" Diehl of Vermilion; twin brother, Christian Diehl of Vermilion; uncle, Chris "CJ" (Tricia) Diehl of Vermilion; great aunt and uncle, Gail and Bob Hentges; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Robert Diehl; maternal great grandparents, Steven and Rosemary Less; and his paternal great grandparents, Robert and Norma Diehl.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 4, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Parish, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
