Carl T. Scarborough, 90, formally of Vermilion, died Thursday, February 23, 2006 in Presbyterian Matthews Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born March 7, 1915 in Marmaduke, Arkansas. He moved to his daughter's house in Charlotte in 2002 from Vermilion where he was a resident since 1958 moving from Memphis, TN. He worked in receiving for Ford Automotive plant in Memphis for 19 years then moved to the Lorain plant in 1957 retiring in 1974 after 17 years as an inspector. He was a former member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion. He was also a member of the UAW Local # 425 and Civilian Conservation Corp. He enjoyed reading, wall papering, painting,family, Dr. Pepper and vanilla ice cream. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Nancy Lorene Rhodes of Charlotte, NC and Anita Joyce Cook of Vermilion, 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a brother, Jerry E. Scarborough of Ennis, TX and a sister, Alice Bishop of Toccopola, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife Alcoba (nee Dycus) Scarborough on Dec 12, 2001; a daughter, Shirley Ann Scarborough; grandsons, Thomas Joseph Rhodes, and Bobby "Dell" Rhodes; step mother, Althea Scarborough; brothers, Rev. James W. Scarborough and Willis Haneline; a sister Barbara Ella Carter and his parents, Thomas Brinkley and Carry (nee Jackson) Scarborough. Family will receive friends, on Sunday from 1:30 to 3 pm at Lowe Funeral Home in Charlotte, North Carolina, followed by funeral service at 3 pm. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 11 am at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. The Reverend John Napier will officiate.
