Carmella A. Vergari

Carmella A. Vergari (nee Perno), of Lorain, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain. She was 91 years old. She was born on July 24, 1912 in Kushequa, Pennsylvania and has lived in Lorain for over 60 years. A homemaker, she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, many whom especially remember her pizzelles. She also enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter and its Sacred Heart Society and had also volunteered to clean the church for many years. She is survived by a her grandchildren, Michelle Dillon of S. Amherst and Anthony Vergari of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Gail and Roger Dillon; Daughter-in-Law, Rosemary Vergari of Lorain; Sisters, Rose Ascenzi of Elkland, PA., Marion Defabio of Warren, PA and Lucy Henderson of Bradford, PA. She was preceded-in-death by her husband, Geremia Vergari in 1984, a son, Luigi Vergari in 1989 and parents, Ralph and Antonetto (nee Stelluto) Perno. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 11:00am on Saturday, February 28, 2004 followed by a 11:30am Mass of Christian Burial at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
