Carol (Christy) Francis Nabakowski (nee Galitz), lost her battle with Alzheimer’s on Monday, February 1, 2021 surrounded by loved ones at her home in Carrollton, Ohio. Christy was born June 17, 1930 in Evanston, IL . Christy and Larry began their journey as a married couple in Birmingham, Ohio but lived and traveled throughout the US and Europe. Christy was an active member of the Birmingham United Methodist Church where she was a member of the church choir and an active participant of the annual church Harvest Festival. Throughout her life’s journey, Christy was active with the Red Hats Society, a member of the Eastern Stars, very active with the Down’s Syndrome Communities and volunteered with the Head Start Program. Christy’s life job was taking care of her loved ones. She was teacher, confident, medical professional, guide and encourager as she raised her five girls; best friend and life love of Larry whom she married in 1949. Christy is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Randy) McNealley of Hamilton, OH; Robin Tokash of Carrollton, OH, and Heidi Jo (John) Macalaster of Delroy, OH; 10 Grandchildren: Amy and Christian Fountain, Shawn (Jamie) McNealley, Joshua (Gina) Richlen, Jamie Richlen, Victoria and Nicholas Tokash, Zachariah (Heather) Bruno, Noah Bruno, and Danielle (Jason) Wong. Eleven great grandchildren: Katherine, Elizabeth and Matthew McNealley, Calista and J.J. Richlen, Cami, Cassie and Coby Fountain, and Aiden and Micah Bruno. Christy was proceeded in death by her beloved husband Larry, daughters, Holly (Robert) Fountain andSusan Nabakowski; her parents, Harvey and Miriam (Mimmy) (nee Hill) Galitz; and her sisters, Nannette (Jim) Lewis and Willojean (Clint) Hughes. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 5, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at the Birmingham Cemetery, 15008 South St, Wakeman, OH 44889 (located behind the Birmingham United Methodist Church). Reverend Richard Kretchmar will officiate. Graveside services will be streamed live at www.facebook.com/Riddlefh .
