Carol D. White (nee Edwards), 66, of Vermilion, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at her home after a lengthy illness. Carol was born July 2, 1948 in Beckley, WV, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 45 years moving from West Virginia. She had worked as a bartender for Rebate and then the VFW Post #7576. She was a member of the VFW Post #7576 Ladies Aux. where she had served as president. She had also been a member of AMVETS Post #22 and the American Legion Post #397. Carol enjoyed playing softball and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard White; daughters, Carmenita Smalley of Elyria and Kim White of Vermilion; granddaughters, Alyssa and Kara; brothers, William Edwards of Vermilion and David Edwards of Worthington, KY; and sisters, Loretta Tyler and Judith Kinser both of Huntington, WV She was preceded in death by her parents , Thomas and Opal (nee Meddings) Edwards and a brother, Benjamin Edwards. The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 from 4:00 pm until the time of the service at 7:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Brother-in-law, Steve Kinser will officiate. The family suggests memorial contributions to New Life Hospice of St. Joseph,3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053.
