Catherine J. Gonnella

Catherine J. Gonnella (nee Caruso), 95 of Lorain, died Monday, May 2, 2005 in Anchor Lodge Nursing Home, Lorain, after a short illness. She was born September 11, 1909 in Calibria, Italy. She has been a Lorain area resident since 1916 moving from Italy when she was 6 years old. She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Abruzzi Club and Montenerio Club, all of Lorain. Survivors include her son, Anthony Gonnella of Elyria; daughters, Violet Desilvester of Lorain, Gerri Stuart of Ft. Worth, TX; 14 grandchildren; and, 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Domenico A. Gonnella in 1997; her parents, Peter and Rose (nee Marzzo) Caruso; six brothers George, Frank, Steve, Ernest, Albert and John Caruso; two sisters, Teresa Caruso and Nancy Mazze; granddaughter, Claudia Zvoesec. Friends may call Thursday, May 5, 2005 from 4-8 pm at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Prayers will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, May 6, 2005, at 10 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, with Rev. Chuck Henkle, Associate Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
