Cathy Clark

March 28, 1949 — November 10, 2024

Cathy Diane Clark, 75, a loving wife, mother, sister, Nana, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on November 10, 2024 surrounded by the warmth of her family after a brief and brave battle with breast cancer. Born on March 28, 1949, in Lorain, Ohio, Cathy was the beloved daughter of Jack and Beverly (Kline) Schon. She grew up in Lorain, graduating from Lorain High School in 1967, where she remained closely connected to her classmates, serving on the reunion committee for many years. With a heart for nurturing young minds, Cathy attended Ohio University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She dedicated her career to teaching in the Vermilion and Lorain Public School systems, where she made a lasting impact on generations of students.

In 1973, Cathy married her beloved husband, Jack T. Clark, and together they built a life rooted in love, family, and faith. A lifelong believer, Cathy was a dedicated member of Delaware United Methodist Church, where she found strength and community. Cathy had a radiant personality, an infectious smile, and a flair for style, not to mention perfect penmanship! She delighted in gathering loved ones, hosting countless celebrations that always made everyone feel cherished and welcome. She adored spending time with family and friends, particularly enjoying lunches, shopping trips, and lively Buckeye game days. She shared many summer afternoons as a host greeter for the Cleveland Indians, a role that let her bring joy to those around her, much like she did in all aspects of her life. She treasured her summer days in Watervale, Michigan, soaking in the sun and making memories with family. She also found joy in trips to Hilton Head Island and visiting her four grandchildren in Wheaton, Illinois, whom she adored with all her heart.

She enjoyed maintaining her beautiful yard, dancing, playing games, and simply being in the company of those she loved. Cathy had a special gift for making others feel valued and celebrated, and she shared her warm, welcoming nature with everyone she met.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Jack Clark, daughters Molly (Jeff) Domanski of Gahanna, Ohio, and Katy (Erik) Miller of Wheaton, Illinois; grandchildren Annika, Elin, Ingrid, and Jack Miller, who were her pride and joy. Cathy is also survived by her loving siblings, Betsy (Ted) Williams and Bill (Carrie) Schon of Lorain, father-in- law, John R. Clark of Lorain, as well as her sisters and brothers in law, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Beverly Schon and mother-in-law, Kathleen Clark.

Cathy’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dee Bodnar, Carrie Schon, and the dedicated staff of Adult Comfort Care, whose support and compassion provided comfort during Cathy’s final months.

A private family service will be held under the direction of Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lorain County Metro Parks, specifically Lakeview Park’s Historic Rose Garden where her grandchildren enjoyed playing tag.

Cathy Diane Clark will be remembered as a woman who lived fully, loved fiercely, and brought joy to all who knew her. Her twinkling eyes, spunky spirit, and ever-present smile will be deeply missed but forever loved. In her memory, may we all carry forward her love, gratitude, and zest for life.
