Celia Mae Binder

Celia Mae Binder, 89 of Lorain, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in Anchor Lodge Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was born August 14, 1919 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident. As a young adult, she worked at Neilson's and Clearsilk Department Store. She was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Lorain and its Pricilla Class. She helped in the making of trophies at Rebman's Recreation Center and enjoyed reading, cross stitch, quilting, ceramics and playing cards. She was passionate about her grandchildren, spending time with them and keeping up on their family activities. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Ann and Larry Johnson of Amherst, son and daughter-in-law, Martin William and Joyce Binder, Jr.; grandchildren, Melissa Timko, James Binder and Meggan Binder; great-grandchildren, Carson and Emerson Timko. She was preceded-in-death by her husband of 66 years in December 2007, Martin William "Bill" Binder, parents, Peter and Luva (nee Reamer) Daub, brother, Leonard Daub and sister, Mona Krontz. Friends may call on Thursday, July 9, 2009 from 3-8 pm at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 10, 2009 at 10:30 am. Reverend Philip Kunz, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Cemetery, Amherst. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John's United Church of Christ, 715 Reid Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052 or New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
