Charles C. Costello

Charles C. "Charlie" Costello, age 85, of Lorain, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at his home. He was born on May 17, 1919 in Stanford, PA and has lived in Lorain most of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was employed as a mill worker for the US Steel Company in Lorain for 42 years and was a member of the USS Retirees. He was a life member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and an active member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Virginia (nee Leska) Costello; daughters, Kathy Friess and Gina Accola, both of Phoenix, AZ; son, Chuck Costello of Phoenix, AZ; 4 grandchildren; brothers, John Costello and Peter Costello, both of Lorain; sisters, Frances Salatnai of Lorain and Madeline Szabo of Vermilion. Preceding him in death were his parents, Peter and Mary Costello and siblings, Pauline, Joe, Mary, Steve, Phillip and Patrick. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 20, 2005 from 4-8pm at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. A rosary service will be conducted by the Holy Name Society at 5:00pm. Closing prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:30am on Monday, February 21, 2005 followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial Services at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski will be the Celebrant. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St.Vincent DePaul Society.
