Bradenton, FL - Edwin Charles Kalb, 70, of Bradenton, FL and Portsmouth, OH died May 9, 2003 at Community Health Partners West, Lorain, Ohio after a 3 year illness. He was born October 25, 1932 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He moved to Bradenton, Florida in 1978 from Portsmouth. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Air Corp serving during the Korean Conflict. He owned several businesses including Ed Kalb Furniture Store in Portsmouth for 10 years and DeSoto Rent-a-Car and DeSoto Systems Advertising in Bradenton, FL. He was manager of the computer department for Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He was a member of Presbyterian Church in Beaver Creek, Ohio. He was also a member of the Nauvo Masonic Lodge and the Portsmouth Shrine Club. He enjoyed fishing, watching football and boating. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Donna (nee Irvin) Kalb; daughter, Sharon Adler of Vermilion; a son, Steven Kalb of Bradenton, FL; and 2 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Cecil and Eva (nee Arthur) Kalb. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Daehler Funeral Home, 915 9th Street, Portsmouth, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Ohio, 1373 Grandview Avenue Suite 200, Columbus, Ohio 43212-2804. Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion is in charge of local arrangements.
