Charles "Charlie" Robert Meier, 51, of Avon Lake, died Monday, May 30, 2011 at his home. Born December 9, 1959 in Lorain, OH, he had been a lifelong Avon Lake resident. Charlie was a skilled machinist who was employed by Western Enterprise for 30 years. He also helped out at Avon Lake High School as a part time trainer in the gym. He was a devoted father whose greatest joys came from coaching his two boys in their various sports and other activities. He was an avid automotive enthusiast whose hobbies were centered around his love for cars. He will be deeply missed as a brother, son, and friend to many. He was a truly loving father to his two sons and will live forever in our hearts. He is survived by his sons, Jacob and Ben Meier of Brunswick; father and step mother Carl and Elaine Meier of Lodi; brothers, Jeff (Michelle) Meier of Woodland Hills, CA and Willy (Debbie) Meier of Vermilion; and sisters: Jennifer Cole of Spokane, MS, Connie (John) Duffe of Medford, OR, Bonnie (Brett) Mercurio of Wellington, FL, Tina Donovan of Avon Lake, OH, Lisa Meier of North Hills, CA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl Marie (nee Germann) Meier. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue Lorain OH. Funeral services will be Thursday June 9, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd. Avon Lake, OH 44012. The Reverend Kelly Brill will officiate.
