Charles P. Hall, 79 of Amherst, died Sunday, March 4, 2007 at home following a several month long illness. He was born November 15, 1927 in Wheelersburg, Ohio and has lived in the Amherst area since 1949. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II from 1945-1947. He worked at the US Steel Plant in Lorain for 30 years. He also farmed for 11 years, raising their own beef cattle. He was a member of The Grange in southern Ohio, enjoyed beekeeping, operating his own sawmill and woodworking and tinkering with engines and motors. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Marie (nee Lowder) of Amherst; daughters, Linda Krisher of Wakeman and Joyce Cooper of Amherst; sons, Charles Hall, Jr. of Amherst, Stephen Hall of Vermilion, Rick Hall of New London and John Hall of Amherst; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Marion Hall of Amherst and half-sister, Kelly Carver of Mansfield. He was preceded-in-death by his parents, Jessie and Sarah Hall and brothers, Hubert, Arnold and Gene Hall. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 5, 2007 from 5-8pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Friends may also call on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00pm. The Reverend Jim Cooper, pastor of Harbourtown Community Church in Vermilion and son-in-law of the deceased, will officiate. Burial will follow at Rugby Cemetery, Brownhelm Twp..
