Charles Vanek

Charles Vanek, 68, of Vermilion, passed away at his home on Monday, May 27, 2024, after a brief illness.

Born on February 4, 1956, in Lorain, OH, Charles had been a resident of Vermilion for the past 18 years, having previously lived in Avon, Avon Lake and Sheffield Village.

Charles dedicated 30 years to his career as a truck driver, most recently working for Griffith Paving.

He had a passion for the outdoors and took great pride in maintaining his yard. Charles was mechanically inclined and enjoyed working on his tractor and truck. He loved listening to music and was especially proud of his Ford truck.

Charles is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cynthia (née Drost) Vanek of Vermilion; his daughter, Theresa Vanek of Elyria; his sons, Charles Vanek of Lorain and Joseph Vanek of Vermilion; his grandsons, Cameron Popely, Chalie Vanek, and Julian Vanek; his brother, Dale Vanek of Oberlin; and his sister, Kathy Gillespie of Sheffield Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Evelyn (née Johnson) Vanek; his brother, Robert Vanek; and his sisters, Marilyn Counts, Linda Christian, and Sharon Hodge.

Private family services will be held.
