Charlotte T. Springowski

Charlotte T. Springowski, 87 of Lorain, died Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at her daughters home in Lorain following a lengthy illness. She was born November 12, 1918 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has lived in Lorain since the age 2. She was a life member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and its Altar and Rosary Society. She attended Nativity and Lorain schools and had at one time worked for the Goodall Clothing Factory and the Stop-N-Shop bakery. She served as the past president of the PLAV women's auxillary and also on the Harrison PTA. She was active in various veteran support activities, was a member of the Black River Historical Society and enjoyed playing cards, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Sipkovsky and Janice Kessinger, both of Lorain; 4 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren; sisters, Josephine Carr, Stella Hachik and Sophie Gattie, all of Fresno, CA. She was preceded-in-death by her husband, Walter Springowski in 1989, parents, Joseph and Sophie (nee Stepek) Michalek and a brother, Edward Michalek. Vistiation will be private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 25, 2006 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. The Reverend Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Contributions may be made to New Life Hospice of St. Joseph, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035 or Nativity BVM Church Restoration Fund, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
