Chester Neely, 90, of Wakeman, died Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was born November 11, 1927 in Kidder, KY and had been a Wakeman resident for the past 53 years moving from Amherst. Chester was a veteran of the United States Army Signal Corps. He worked as an electrician with the IBEW Local #129 for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Florence Baptist Church and had previously been a member of the First Baptist Church, Birmingham. He was also a member of the Masonic Ely Lodge #424 and enjoyed farming, hunting, and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosaleen (nee Green) Neely of Wakeman. He was preceded in death by his parents, "J.W" Jerry Walder and Sarah (nee Thompson) Neely; brothers, Estes and Dewey Neely; and his sister, Darvel Thomas. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio where there will be a Masonic service at 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be Monday, July 30, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Pastor Ed Young will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
