Clara H. Poltrone (nee DelSignore), 93, of Lorain, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a brief illness. She was born July 12, 1924 in Lorain where she had been a life long resident. Clara graduated from the Lorain High School Class of 1942 B and was a life time member of St. Peter Catholic Parish, Lorain. She was also a life time member of the Italian American Veterans Aux. where she served as past treasurer, helped with the monthly spaghetti dinners, and baked her famous Italian cookies for their bake sales. She enjoyed cooking, reading, flower gardening, puzzles, and shopping with her daughter. She is survived by her son, Leonard Poltrone of Lorain; daughter, Carol (Ken) Kos of Amherst; grandson, Matthew Kos of Amherst; 2 brother-in-laws, 3 sister-in-laws; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Sebastian "Yano" Poltrone in 2007; parents, Simone and Bambina (nee Ventresca) DelSignore; brother, Patsy DelSignore; and her sisters, Mary Curtis, Ann Abrahamowicz, and Virginia "Babe" Reese. Family and friends will meet at the church for a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at the St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, OH. Father Craig Hovanec will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Lorain.
