Clarence W. Finley, 93, of Vermilion, passed away Friday, January 23, 2026 following a lengthy illness.
He was born January 30, 1932, in Delbarton, West Virginia, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 65 years after moving from West Virginia.
Clarence proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was employed at Ford Motor Company in Lorain, where he worked as an inspector and later in cleanup, retiring after 38 years of dedicated service.
Clarence was deeply involved with the Boy Scouts of America, serving with Boy Scout Troop #447 in Vermilion. He was also active with the Heart of Ohio Council, where he served as a Unit Commissioner. He loved nature and enjoyed camping, bird watching, planting trees and collecting Boy Scout patches, and especially cherished time spent at his cabin in Tidioute, Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his sons, Richard (Barbara) Finley of Wellington, Gregory (Christine) Finley of Vermilion, and Philip Finley of Mississippi; his stepson, Larry “Michael” Burgraff of Lorain; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dixie (née Bowen) Finley; his son, Johnny Zepth Finley; and his daughter, Vickie Lynn Finley.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, where Military Honors will be presented. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Cub Scout Troop #447, 990 State Street, Vermilion, OH 44089.
