Claude Earl Doyle, 98, of Vermilion, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025 peacefully at his home following a brief illness.

He was born on February 20, 1927, in Collierville, Tennessee, and had made Vermilion his home for the past 66 years after relocating from Tennessee.

Claude proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany following World War II. A hardworking and devoted man, he was employed with Ford Motor Company in Lorain for over 30 years, retiring in 1987. Remarkably, he never missed a single day of work during his career.

He was a proud member of AMVETS Post #22, VFW Post #7576, Vermilion Fish and Game, and UAW Local #425. Claude had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, cooking, NASCAR, and hunting. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Carolyn (nee Gelston) Doyle; his children, Cynthia (Rick) Decker of Wakeman, Kathy (Ron) Baker of Vermilion, and Claude (Julie) Doyle Jr. of Menomonee Falls, WI; grandchildren, Justin (Dee), Austin (Taylor), Jessica (Kendrick), Jennifer (Branden), Aaron, Kristen, Madeleine, Joseph, and Ian; and great-grandchildren, Giuliana, Eloise, Lucas, Emma, Haylee, Hannah, Beau, and Levi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Rosa Bell (nee Stone) Doyle; his daughter, Deborah Lynn Haines; his brother, William Doyle; sisters, Ida, Mildred, Lilly, and his twin sister, Pearl.

Private graveside services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. Military honors will be rendered at the cemetery in recognition of his service.

Memorial contributions may be made in Claude’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
