Clifford A. Bartlome

June 21, 1942 — November 22, 2008

Clifford A. Bartlome, 66, of Lorain, passed away on November 22, 2008 at his home surrounded by his wife, children and beloved pets, after a nine month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on June 21, 1942. He grew up in Vermilion and was a 1960 graduate of Vermilion High School. Cliff was a longtime resident of Lorain and Ocean City, New Jersey. He retired in 2003 from the Borgata Resort and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Cliff was an accomplished athlete in basketball, football and baseball. He was later inducted into the Greater Cleveland Softball Hall of Fame. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Denise (nee Steinbrunner) of Lorain; daughters, Sandra (Malcolm) Williams of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Susan (Jim) Wells of Vermilion; sons, Douglas (Annette) Bartlome and Jeffrey (Beth) Bartlome, both of Vermilion; grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, Julia, Claire and Jack; brother, Larry Bartlome of Lorain. He was loved by many other family members and friends. He was preceded-in-death by his daughter, Krystyn Bartlome in 2007, with whom he shared a great love and compassion for animals, and his parents, Fred and Bessie (nee Hoffman) Bartlome. Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008 from 3-7 pm at the Vermilion Country Club, W. Lake Road, Vermilion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic, 4620 Haygood Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23455. This non-profit organization assisted Cliff and other cancer treatment patients in their travels to treatment facilities around the country.
