Clifford D. "Mousie" Hale, 78, of Vermilion, died Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born August 30, 1939 in McAndrews, KY and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 52 years moving from KY. Clifford worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain for 32 years retiring from the maintenance department in 1992. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #397, AMVETS Post #22, VFW Post #7576, and the UAW #425. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and going to auctions. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anita Hale of Vermilion; daughter, Evelyn "Joyce" Hale USAF, Dayton; son, Eric Jeffery Hale of Sandusky; granddaughters, Cora (Brock) Clark, Erin Joyce Hale, and Alexys Hale; and brothers, John Tom (Marlene Young) Hale of Vermilion and Durward (Bonnie ) Hale of Prestonsburg, KY; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John B. Hale; mother, Evelyn (nee Crace) Hale-Hurley; and his step father, Oliver Hurley. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 from 3-6 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Friends may also call on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018 from 1:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. The Reverend Jim Cooper will officiate. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors just prior to the funeral service at 2:00 pm.
