Crystal Lyn Alting (nee Feighter), 70, of Birmingham, died Friday, October 2, 2026, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 1, 1956, in Loudonville, OH, and had been a Birmingham resident for the past nine years, moving from Macedonia, OH.
Crystal worked for the United States Postal Service serving as a mail carrier and then as the assistant to the Postmaster for 14 years.
She attended the Church of the Open Door, Vermilion where she was part of the Bible Study group. Crystal found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a creative spirit and enjoyed making crafts, preparing delicious meals for her family, and spending time tending to her flower beds and garden. She took great pride in her home and garden and especially cherished the time she spent nurturing and caring for her family.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, James W. Alting; daughter, Lea (Michael) Sutorius; grandchildren, Mia, Austin, Kylie, and Reagan; her sisters, Judy, Myron, and Weldon Feighter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Nelda (nee Francis) Feighter, her son, Garry Alting; brother, Doug; sister, Sandra; and niece, Sybil.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Open Door, 1230 Beechview Dr., Vermilion, OH 44089.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Church of the Open Door, Vermilion or Well Springs Hospice.
