Daniel Hay Drew

Daniel Hay Drew, 59, of Vermilion, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at University Hospital, Elyria following a lengthy illness. Dan was born March 29, 1957 in Fort Worth, TX and had been a Lorain County resident since 1972 moving to Vermilion 8 years ago. He was a self employed wholesale nursery grower operating Sundance Farm in Lagrange. Dan was known as one of the top growers in Northeast Ohio, and was a member of the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, 4 wheeling and traveling, but his true passion was scuba diving. Dan is survived by his wife of 12 years Patricia (nee Hajduk); children Rebekah (Rasto) Janis of Amherst, David Chance Drew of Elyria, Emma Pearce of Ashland, Christopher Karpinski of Grafton, and David Karpinski of Elyria; grandchildren Juliana, Dane, and Nathaniel; parents John and Charlotte Drew of Punta Gorda, FL; sister Diane (Tim) Naff of Guthrie, OK; brother Doug (Debbie) Drew of Ft. Myers, FL. He was preceded in death by brother David Drew. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 1st from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. & 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a service at 7:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home 5345 South St., Vermilion.
