Daniel Mark Schee, 78, of Huron, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026, at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born August 20, 1948, in Meriden, Connecticut, and had been a Huron resident for the past 30 years before recently moving to Vermilion.
Daniel was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as a meteorologist from 1971 to 1974. He was a 1966 graduate of Sandusky High School, where he was a talented swimmer who competed at the state level in the 250-meter race. He later attended Tiffin University, where he majored in Art and was a member of the TKE fraternity.
He worked as a Quality Control manager in the auto industry for 30 years, retiring in 2005.
Daniel was a member of the Lyman Boat Owners Association and especially enjoyed carpentry and restoring Lyman boats. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State fan and enjoyed writing. He contributed a chapter to a book about Lyman restoration and was working on a book about the NFL. Daniel also enjoyed making wine and sharing his many interests and stories with those around him.
He is survived by his daughter, Dana (Mark) Ansell; son, Andrew Mark Schee; stepdaughter, Teresa (Jeff) Clark; grandchildren, Monica, Malary (Nate), Seth Daniel (Sophia), Stephen (Reece), Brandyn Daniel, and Drew Mark; great-grandchildren, Adam Jr., Aaron, Tucker, Raelynn, Thatcher, and Samuel; honorary daughter, Crista; and step-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, and Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Lois Jean (nee Smith) Schee; his wife of 19 years, Stephanie T. (nee Smith) Gebauer Schee; his parents, John William and Eleanor (nee Hall) Schee; brothers, Jack and Bill Schee; and stepson, Nathan.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of military honors and memorial service at 12:00 noon at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Riddle Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
